3-Days Safari Selous Game Reserve

Experience an unforgettable 3-day safari in the spectacular Selous Game Reserve, one of Tanzania’s most beautiful and wildlife-rich destinations. This safari offers the opportunity to explore the reserve’s diverse landscapes, including rivers, lakes, woodlands, and open plains.

During the safari, enjoy exciting game drives where you may see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and many other wildlife species. You can also experience the unique beauty of the Rufiji River and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this remote wilderness.

This 3-day safari is ideal for travelers looking for a short but memorable wildlife adventure away from the busy northern safari circuit.

The best time to visit Tanzania depends on what you want to experience, but generally June to October is considered the best period for safari and wildlife viewing.

  • June–October: Dry season, excellent for safaris, wildlife viewing, and Kilimanjaro climbing.
  • November–December: Short rains; fewer tourists and generally good safari conditions.
  • January–February: Warm and relatively dry, with excellent wildlife viewing and a good chance of seeing the wildebeest calving season.
  • March–May: Long rainy season. Landscapes are green and prices can be lower, but some roads and safari areas may be affected by rain.

For the Great Migration: January–March is particularly good for the calving season in the Serengeti, while July–October is popular for migration and river-crossing experiences.

Yes. Tanzania is one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros.

The best areas include:

  • Serengeti National Park – excellent for lions and leopards.
  • Ngorongoro Crater – very good opportunities to see several Big Five species in one day, including black rhino.
  • Tarangire National Park – famous for elephants and large herds of buffalo.
  • 🦏 Ngorongoro is among the better places in Tanzania to look for the endangered black rhino.

However, wildlife is wild and sightings can never be guaranteed. A knowledgeable safari guide, the right season, and spending several days in the parks can greatly improve your chances.

Yes, Tanzania is a popular destination for international travelers, and safaris and established tourist routes operate normally, but travelers should take normal precautions and stay informed about local conditions.

The current U.S. travel advisory recommends increased caution/reconsideration of travel because of crime, terrorism, and possible unrest, with particular risks varying by area.

For a safari, travelers should:

  • Use a registered and reputable safari operator.
  • Follow your guide's instructions during game drives.
  • Avoid demonstrations and large political gatherings.
  • Keep valuables secure and avoid displaying large amounts of cash.
  • Use trusted transportation rather than unlicensed taxis.
  • Have suitable travel and medical/evacuation insurance.

For most visitors following these precautions, Tanzania can be an enjoyable safari and holiday destination. Your safari operator can also help you plan the safest routes and transportation throughout your trip.
